If Sandy Bothmer’s career path could be depicted in a drawing, it would be a tree, with its roots deeply planted in education and its limbs growing upward and outward into the field of energy medicine and healing. Sandy has 20 years teaching experience at the elementary school level, with a Masters Degree in education from Lesley University.
She has presented at educational conferences for both regular and gifted education and teaches a storytelling class for staff development at UNH in Manchester, NH and at the University of Connecticut’s summer conference on enrichment in learning, Confratute, for educators and parents. In addition, Sandy is a Creative Kids Yoga teacher and trainer for Intro to CKY. She often helps director Rosemary Todd Clough with her Levels I, II, and III teacher trainings at her studio in Merrimack, NH or at Kripalu in western Massachusetts. Sandy is the author of the book “Creating the Peaceable Classroom”, which will be coming out in a second edition by spring of 2011.
Sandy’s integrated approach to energy healing is derived from various training techniques: her Reiki training with Libby Barnett, Maggie Chambers, John Harvey Gray, and Scott Ross; energy diagnosis training with Meredith Young-Sowers; Creative Kids Yoga teacher training with Rosemary Todd Clough; and Cherokee healing with Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona. Her work is also influenced by yoga, qigong, and meditation. Sandy encourages active participation by her clients in their healing process, offering them exercises and practices that can be done at home between sessions. She works with special needs children who have Asperger’s Disorder, autism, ADHD, and anxiety issues. Through workshops and trainings, Sandy shares self-care techniques for ensuring an individual’s wellbeing, which is essential in today’s world.
A heart-centered approach nourishes her teaching and healing work with both adults and children.
