This workshop will explore ways to experiment with sound or Nada (sound yoga) techniques to achieve maximum potential in your yoga and meditation practice, by encouraging the mind, organs, and subtle energy centers to entrain with the vibrational modalities of specific sounds. This ‘sonic tonic’ helps bring about peace and tranquility to your whole being. It also prepares you for the specialist work you give it – whether through asanas, pranayama or meditation – and is particularly useful with restorative yoga.

Shantha Sri will discuss and demonstrate his explorations of using specific types of sound and music in his daily yoga and meditation practice, and explain his views and beliefs about why this practice is beneficial in enhancing an individual’s yoga and meditation practice.

The session will cover:
Linking breath with sound – using specific music or sound cycles to energize your Pranayama practice – exploring the full, deep-cycle breath

Working with specific sounds, tones, beats, rhythm and music structures to inform your Asana practice with intention

Using sound as an ‘object’. Resonant sound toning practice helps in focusing the mind – for walking and sitting meditation – to assist in deepening your Samatha/Bhavana practice.

Employing toning sounds and focusing on specific energy centers in the body to unblock energy and get prana flowing freely in Chakra Balancing Meditation

Shantha Sri will discuss the importance and psychology of choosing music and sound that enriches Savasana/Nidra rather than destroying this process. He will also discuss using sound both externally and internally, as well as how to memorize specific sounds that resonate within and can be recalled at any time to relieve tiredness, anger, stress, depression or anxiety (Mood Management).
